Spring into Habits that Put People First

Raise your hand if you love Spring! The smell of dirt and thunderstorms. Sitting outside on the first 60-degree day. Leaving the puffy coat at home. It’s a time of emergence and renewed energy. Sunny Saturdays and Sundays see friends and families strolling the sidewalks, seeing their community through freshly thawed eyes.

Along with the warmer weather is a sweet reminder of people and the businesses that make our community joyful, resilient, and vibrant.

If you’ve been following Local First for a while, you know we’re proud of the way our entrepreneurs and business owners work toward a circular economy – keeping our money close to home, creating jobs, and taking leaps of faith to bring unique and high-quality products and services to our community.

Over the years, we’ve learned that building a People First Economy takes more than a single action, one time. But it also doesn’t have to be as overwhelming as changing everything all at once. We encourage you to instead think about singular actions as the beginning of forming a habit. A good habit.

There’s no better time than now to build local habits and commit to vote with our dollars by investing locally in products and services we regularly consume.

Here are five ways you can spring into local investment and develop habits that put people first:
